ITSRC–UNRAM Successfully Conducts “TRAINING Seaweed-Based Nutrition for Sustainable Communities” in Seriwe
Seriwe, East Lombok, Indonesia – 7 June 2026 – The TRAINING Seaweed-Based Nutrition for Sustainable Communities was successfully conducted in Seriwe, East Lombok, on 7 June 2026, bringing together 37 participants from the local community and related academics stakeholder. The training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the nutritional benefits of seaweed and its potential contribution to sustainable community development. As one of Indonesia’s valuable marine resources, seaweed offers significant opportunities to improve food security, nutrition, and local livelihoods, particularly in coastal areas.
Throughout the training, participants were introduced to the nutritional properties of seaweed, its applications in food products, and practical approaches to incorporating seaweed into daily diets and community-based food initiatives. The sessions encouraged knowledge sharing and active discussions on the role of seaweed in supporting healthier and more sustainable food systems. The activity also highlighted the importance of maximizing local marine resources through innovation and community engagement. By strengthening knowledge and awareness of seaweed-based nutrition, the training sought to empower commIunities to utilize locally available resources more effectively while promoting sustainable development.
