ITSRC UNRAM Researcher Invited as Delegate and Speaker at APEC Seaweed Forum in Lima, Peru

Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara — Dr. Eka S. Prasedya, a researcher from the International Tropical Seaweed Research Center (ITSRC), University of Mataram, was officially invited as an Indonesian delegate and speaker at the international symposium entitled “Potential of Farming Seaweed for Human Consumption in APEC Emergent Economies”, organized by the Technological Institute of Production (ITP) on 21–22 May 2026 in Lima, Peru.
 
The event was opened by Juan Jose Plasencia Vazquez, Director General for East Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, alongside delegates from various APEC economies, including China, Chile, the Philippines, Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, and Peru. Participants represented not only academics and experts, but also policymakers from different governments, who jointly discussed the development of the seaweed sector from multiple perspectives, including value chains, innovation, policy, and gender inclusion.

As Indonesia’s delegate, Dr. Eka participated as a speaker, sharing Indonesia’s experiences and perspectives in seaweed cultivation and development with participants from various countries. This participation is expected to provide meaningful contributions to the advancement of seaweed research and development in Indonesia, particularly through ITSRC UNRAM.
