Kick-Off Meeting of KONEKSI-BRIN LPDP 2025

Kick-Off Meeting of KONEKSI BRIN: Commercialising Cultivated Tropical and Temperate Seaweeds as a Sustainable Source of Nutraceuticals or Health and Nutrition” was successfully held on September 8–12, 2025, at Jayakarta Hotel, organized by the International Tropical Seaweed Center, University of Mataram.

The meeting was attended by the KONEKSI research team, BRIN researchers, Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Universitas Mataram, Prof. Akmaluddin, ST., M.Sc. (Eng), Ph.D, and the Head of LPPM. In his remarks, Prof. Akmaluddin hoped the KONEKSI BRIN Grant would continue beyond a single year to foster sustainable collaboration and innovation, while the Head of LPPM stressed the need for the program to deliver real benefits directly to society.

Furthermore, Representative Dr. Eka Prasedya expressed that this program is expected to bring together researchers, industry, and communities in the seaweed sector. He noted that the main focus of the research is to explore edible seaweeds with valuable bioactive compounds that can provide significant benefits for society.

The meeting agenda included presentations on research plans, timelines, and field activities, followed by discussions on sampling strategies and data collection in Lombok, which will be carried out by the research team in the coming days. The program concluded with a reflection session and a closing lunch, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey filled with enthusiasm and commitment.

This Kick-Off Meeting represents a significant step forward in building stronger academic and institutional partnerships, while also reinforcing Universitas Mataram’s role in advancing impactful and community-oriented research at both national and international levels.
