Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Technology Visits UMCMB

On May 18, 2025, Prof. Stella Christie, the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, visited the University of Mataram Center for Marine Biorefineries (UMCMB). She was accompanied by the Director General of Higher Education and representatives from the Executive Board for Priority Economic Acceleration Programs.

During the visit, the delegation toured UMCMB’s biobank, seaweed herbarium, and displays of innovative seaweed-based products developed by the center. Prof. Stella also brought along Prof. John from the University of California, Berkeley, who expressed particular interest in the biobank’s collection of wild Kappaphycus strains, recognizing its value for marine genetic research and sustainable development.
