UNRAM–ITSC Participates in Collaborative Workshop in the Philippines
Tacloban, Philippines – A research team from the University of Mataram–International Tropical Seaweed Center (UNRAM–ITSC), together with GlobalSeaweed-PROTECT partners, has successfully completed a collaborative workshop focused on technology transfer for coastal communities. The event, held in Tacloban, Philippines, served as a platform for two-way knowledge exchange between academics, local government, NGOs, and coastal community groups.
The workshop also engaged international partner institutions from the United Kingdom and Malaysia, enriching cross-country perspectives and experiences in coastal resource management based on biosecurity approaches. From UNRAM–ITSC, the program was supported by two alumni serving as Research Assistants (RA) and two undergraduate students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), who actively contributed to the activities.

The involvement of both alumni and students demonstrates UNRAM–ITSC’s strong commitment to building the capacity of young generations in global research and community engagement. At the same time, the participation of international partners further strengthens UNRAM–ITSC’s position within global research and innovation networks, particularly on strategic issues related to seaweed industry management and sustainability.

This workshop is expected to serve as a stepping stone for expanding international collaborations and reinforcing UNRAM–ITSC’s role as a hub for coastal research and innovation in Indonesia. Through such international experiences, UNRAM–ITSC remains committed to delivering tangible impacts for coastal community development, both nationally and globally.
